The application of wound dressings plays a very critical role in wound healing and infectious prevention. Certain dressings and ointments can speed up wound healing, reduce patient’s pain, and prevent infection.
How it Works
There are many different types of wound dressings and ointments available such as silver-containing hydrophilic fiber dressing, antibacterial dressing, and wet dressing. There are many factors considered to determine which specialty dressing is best to treat each wound. These include if the wound is infected, if the wound is dry or moist, and how much drainage is present.
Specialty dressings provide an environment to allow the wound to heal by protecting it from bacteria or debris and maintaining moisture so the tissue below the surface can heal.
